Supply Chain

  • Various “James Bond” supplier audits; visit supplier of a potential U.S. acquisition target to assess risk by their dependence on that supplier, visit manufacturer using U.S. clients logo and brand identity to assess their motivation and capability, visit potential Joint Venture partner to assess the risks & benefits of pursuing a JV, etc.
  • Various VAT questions; how pricing changed when product had been purchased from three separate suppliers and now would be bought through one acting as assembler, the differences between selling to China directly and selling to Chinese companies in a export processing zone, why suppliers raise prices when the goods are no longer exported, etc.
  • Interim Director of Operations for a gift/consumer products company; overseeing Asian sourcing, transportation, and warehouse operations while also leading the management team in development of a corporate budgeting system.
  • As the representative for a U.S. wire manufacturer, worked with their U.S. client’s factory in China and its subcontractor to identify and resolve processing issues.
  • Develop staff in Hong Kong and Thailand to manage local subcontracted manufacturers and to act as intermediaries in the supply chain process with their U.S. office.

Operations & International

  • Led client through development of their sales office in China; location, staffing, corporate entity, and transition over the first three months.
  • Helped New Zealand company identify possible OEM partners in North America, prequalified and then facilitated the customization of products.
  • Interim General Manager of a startup medical device company; market strategy, pricing, supplier management, FDA approval, etc.
  • Supported a Chinese firm in the U.S. in expanding their business; bank loans, recruiting employees, cash management, strategic planning.
  • Interim general manager of Sales & Distribution company in China selling into coal mining. Managed the team and distributors to grow sales throughout the region and improve margins.
  • Multiple clients; participated in interviews on key hires, met with current staff to assess development opportunities, met with staff to mediate tension within Chinese team or between U.S. and Chinese team, etc.
  • Developed the operating system for a U.S. electronics company importing from and selling within China. Established the documentation, communication flow, and SOP for order processing between the U.S. manufacturer, the U.S. customer and the Chinese subcontractors for both the manufacturer and customer. Developed a sales plan, catalog, and management staff in China to monitor the operation.
  • Market Research for client who’s distributors in China had not met sales expectations – identified alternative “go to market” strategy and assessed current distributors reach as well as the competitors strengths & weaknesses.
  • Reviewed the distribution and repackaging of product in China for an Israeli client to identify how to remit profit from the business back to Israel from the third party distributor.
  • Project to identify the reasons for and solutions to certification problems in China (typical CCC / other entity certification) through meetings with U.S. and Chinese staff and review of the process used in prior certification attempts.
  • Set up corporation in the U.S. for Chinese business parent company and advised management on development of the business.
